The successful way to monitor your blood sugar levels without the stress

Supporting people to get the balance they want between blood glucose control and getting on with and enjoying their life.

What are we setting out to do?

To help as many people as possible with diabetes to better self-manage their condition – at no cost to them.

Many of us with diabetes are not able to control our blood glucose as well as we would like, but also do not want to spend all our time managing and worrying about levels and control.

Bloodline want to support people to get the balance that they want between blood glucose control and getting on with and enjoying their life.

We all have our different goals and motivations and this needs to be factored in to the degree of blood glucose control we are aiming for and/or can achieve. This is your individual choice.  Once you know how your blood glucose behaves, you will be in a much better position to manage yourself.

About Diabetes

Why?

Improved blood glucose control is beneficial to people with diabetes as it will greatly reduce the long-term health risks associated with poor control. However, we believe that people are not getting the right information to enable them to help themselves manage their blood glucose in a way that suits them and their life style. It’s simple. We want to help as many people as possible to control their diabetes more successfully and less stressfully. Greater understanding brings peace of mind.

Why Now?

There are a number of sensors being developed that potentially will be capable of giving an instant blood glucose measurement. However, technology alone will not provide the full support to help people with diabetes manage their blood glucose how they want it. Bloodline is trialling on-line support that is aimed at achieving this. We are getting our on-line platform ready so that it will communicate with these new sensors as they become available.

We are independent of any sensor manufacturer so that you will be able to select the best sensor for you, or change to better or cheaper sensors as they come on to the market and still use the same Bloodline platform with all of your historical data safely stored.

About Us

Both co-founders of Bloodline are experienced engineers who have applied data analysis techniques to build successful technology-based businesses. One of the founders is has had type 2 diabetes for more than 20 years. Based on his personal experience as a diabetic “patient”, it became was clear that people with diabetes need better tools to help them self-manage their glucose control, and that we can readily achieve this.

Bloodline is committed to help as many people as possible with diabetes get the level of blood glucose control that they want. Also, we want to make sure that people with diabetes have choice. We do not want the sensor manufacturers to dominate the market and that’s why we strongly believe that having a software support platform independent of any and every sensor manufacturer is the best way to give people with diabetes real choice at the best price.

The Bloodline Approach

I was quite surprised (pleasantly) by the results from the trial, particularly when comparing the blood sugar levels over time against what I had eaten and what exercise I had taken. It was easy to see how the levels varied such a lot during the day…
Simple clear graphics convey the results more easily than graphs.

I would wholeheartedly commend the Bloodline approach to anyone seeking to gain better control over their blood sugar levels.

About Diabetes

Diabetes effects up to around 10% of the population and is a condition that is on the increase.

For someone with diabetes their body cannot successfully control their blood sugar (glucose) levels and have to use medication to help maintain control.

There are short and long term potential health impacts associated with poor control.

Low levels of glucose can lead to immediate problems such as being sweaty, confused and even collapse.

Alternatively, high levels of glucose, can lead to long term health complications if left uncontrolled such as nerve damage leading to kidney or eye problems and even amputation.

Broadly there are 2 classes of diabetes:

  • Type1
10% of people with diabetes have type 1 and usually take an amount insulin by injection related to the food consumed and exercise taken
  • Type2
90% of people with diabetes are in this category.  Blood glucose control for people with type 2 is primarily through oral medication and also emphasis on stricter control of food intake plus exercise where appropriate.

There are other categories of Diabetes but Type 1 and 2 are the main ones.  However, for those of us with diabetes it is important to understand that whilst there may be excellent medical support available Diabetes is very much a self-managed condition.

We are all different, and if you have diabetes, your diabetes will be different from others. To better self-manage you will have to understand how your body reacts  so that you can get the level of control that you want.
